Shocking Report: Secret Service Resources Diverted From PA Trump Rally to Jill Biden, More Troubling Info

So what they're saying is that because they were treating Trump just as a former president, not necessarily the current candidate with a lot of threats against him, Jill Biden was given priority over him.

Roseanne Barr and Others Dunk All Over Eric Swalwell for His Disgusting Post About Trump Shooter

But all this effort to deflect can't change that it's Democrats, including Joe Biden, who have ramped up the attacks on Trump to demonize and dehumanize him as an existential "threat."

Dem Rep. Calls Out Inflammatory Rhetoric Bandied About by His Own Party—'These Are Dangerous Lies'

I applaud Jared Golden for calling out his cohorts’ lust for violence. I only wish most of his Democrat colleagues had such cojones.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

There's very little on the schedule for Congress this week due to the Republican National Convention taking place in Milwaukee, though no doubt, we'll be hearing from members of Congress in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. There are multiple calls for an investigation into the security failures and the Secret Service.

White House What's Up

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will receive a briefing from Homeland Security and law enforcement officials late Monday morning. Karine Jean-Pierre will deliver a press briefing in the afternoon and later, Biden heads to Las Vegas.

Jury deliberation continues in the corruption trial of Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in the Southern District of New York on Monday, so we may have a verdict soon.

MORNING MUSING

As disorienting as having the Fourth of July land in the middle of the week was, the past 48 hours have knocked all sense of time out of whack as we've been furiously covering the news of the assassination attempt. I've alternated between being numb and being intensely emotional. I'm old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan was shot, and not appreciating at the time just how close a call that was. When I start to contemplate what a matter of millimeters and milliseconds spared us on Saturday, I get overwhelmed. Wherever you land on the love him/hate him DJT spectrum, be thankful that we were spared the unthinkable, even while we pray for Corey Comperatore's loved ones and for healing for the others who were injured. Because had the assassin succeeded, we'd be in an unimaginably awful place right now.
