Biden Displays Scary Look During Visit to Black Church, and What the Bishop Said Is Raising Eyebrows

If his team believes this is helping him, I think they're sadly mistaken.

Marco Rubio Goes on CNN, Dana Bash Probably Wishes He Hadn't After He Crushes Her Warped Trump Narrative

I concur with this social media poster: Rubio crushed Bash in this mini-debate.

Biden Question Scandal Brings Consequences for Radio Host and Earns Scathing Response From Station

So a black radio host lost her job for going along with this, and the station sounds like it's scolding the Biden team, calling out the "delegitimizing of Black voices" and saying their outlet is not a "mouthpiece" for the Biden administration or any other administration. Got it.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

As the Congress critters ease back into work mode following their 4th of July break, the biggest happenings on the Hill Monday will revolve around the Dems' "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Joe Biden?" dilemma. As more and more Democrats break ranks and call for the president to withdraw from the presidential race (or possibly even step down altogether), you can bet your sweet bippy there are lots of whispered conversations and closed-door meetings going on. Formally, though, the only meeting set for Monday is a House Rules Committee, though the rules under consideration are of some note:

  • H.R. 8772 - Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2025
  • H.R. 8281 - Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act
  • H.J. Res. 165 - Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex in Education Programs or Activities Receiving Federal Financial Assistance.
  • H.R. 7637 – Refrigerator Freedom Act
  • H.R. 7700 – Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act

Okay, maybe the refrigerator and dishwasher rules aren't all that fascinating — other than contemplating how we're at a place when those are the sorts of things being addressed by Congress...

White House What's Up

There's nary a thing on President Joe Biden's schedule today aside from his Daily Brief (with Vice President Kamala Harris set to attend). Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will hold a press briefing in the afternoon.

Full Court Press...

The trial of Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) is winding down in the Southern District of New York. Closing arguments could be delivered as early as today. The case will certainly go to the jury this week.

Meanwhile in New Mexico, the pre-trial hearing is set for Monday in Alec Baldwin's trial over the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halayna Hutchins on the set of the movie "Rust," with the trial set to begin Tuesday.

MORNING MUSING

Exercising a point of personal privilege again to pay a brief tribute to my "Dear Old Dad" (that's how he used to sign his notes to me) on what would be his 91st birthday. I've shared this before, I'm sure, but throughout my life, without fail, whenever I encountered someone who knew my Dad, they'd say, "He is/was the nicest man." He truly was. And he is dearly missed.

LIGHTER FARE

Too pretty not to share...
