We've entered the late summer lull on the Hill. The House is out on "summer recess" until September 9. The Senate has a few hearings/meetings set for this week, though none for Monday, and then it too will be out for the remainder of August. 

White House What's Up

After a quiet weekend at Camp David, President-in-Name-Only Joe Biden will head to Austin, Texas, mid-day to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act during a visit to the LBJ Presidential Library, followed by a trip to Houston to pay respects to Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D), before returning to Washington, D.C., late night.

Full Court Press...

Monday's the day Biden unveils his proposed Supreme Court reforms. Of course, with Congress essentially out until September and elections looming, one wonders at how much of the soon-to-be-exiting president's declared agenda will be taken up by the legislative body upon its return. 

MORNING MUSING

The past couple of days have been marginally less whiplash-inducing in terms of the news — at least on the domestic front. With 99 days to go until Election Day, are we simply experiencing some brief calm before the storm? Likely. I did appreciate the ability to enjoy an afternoon at the pool without having to interrupt it to address a breaking news story for a change. Like they say, it's the little things...

LIGHTER FARE 

This is just silly. We could all use some silly.
