Democrats like to talk about coup attempts, but they're the only ones who actually tried one and succeeded. 

So now they have Harris, a younger, spry, and less cognitively impaired candidate... and yet they're right back where they started. At some point, Harris is going to have to meet Trump on the stage and that is not going to go well. 

As Ward Clark mentioned in an article on Thursday, Trump agreed to three debate dates: 

The former president then announced three agreed-upon debate dates, wherein he will face Vice President Harris; Trump stated that the Harris campaign "may or may not" agree to the terms of the debates. The dates Trump mentioned were September 4th (Fox), September 10th (NBC), and September 25th (ABC.) 

Once again, Trump is willing to debate his Democrat opponent. Three times, in fact. However, if you're the Democrats you're likely still feeling the burn from last time and looking at Harris, you're pretty sure that this is going to burn you again. 

As you have no doubt noticed by now, Trump is taking questions from the press and ad-libbing his responses. Nothing is prepared. 

Harris, however, is avoiding the press and only speaking to crowds with a prepared script. As Sister Toldjah pointed out in her Thursday article, Democrat strategists say that there will be none of that until after Labor Day because... :

One longtime Harris ally suggested to West Wing Playbook that Harris could hold off on big interviews until after Labor Day. “There’s really no need,” the person said. “The voters that she needs are at the local level. They’re not reading the national press.”

[...]

“What is the incentive for her [to take more questions]?” said another person close to the campaign who was granted anonymity to share how Harris’ team views the matter. “She’s getting out exactly the message she wants to get out.”

However, she's not accepting interviews from local press either, so what's the deal? 

I think we already know. 

Harris might be less cognitively impaired than Biden, but she's just as bad in situations where she has to talk freely. She's incredibly awkward without her teleprompter, cackling at odd moments and repeating herself until she's so deep in her word salad you've lost her entire point. 

Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. It's small, but it really points out just how mired Harris is without direction. Watch her greet a crowd. A simple enough task that doesn't require a lot of thought. All you need are phrases like "Wow what a great crowd!" or "So happy to see you here!" but what does Harris do? 

She awkwardly repeats, "good evening" over and over again.

Why? We don't know. It could have been just Harris being Harris, but like a guess a friend of mine gave. It was likely the top sentence on the teleprompter, and it hadn't moved on. 

Slightly off-topic, watch it again and watch Walz. Weird reaction. 

Harris on stage with Trump is a thought that should be giving Democrats nightmares, and likely is. Hell, the idea of Harris on her own in front of the press gives them the shivers. 

This is why I'm almost positive that they won't accept Trump's offer. I'm not sure a debate will happen. I truly hope it does. Not only will it expose Harris as just as much a bumbling idiot as Biden was, but the takedown will be a blast to behold and the panicked reaction from the press will be delicious. 

Time will tell, but just judging by the ultra-careful way they're handling Harris, they don't want another Biden debate incident. Rest assured, they'd probably get one. 

Side note, if they do accept, Tulsi Gabbard needs to be front and center where Harris can see her.
