It has been a week since the infamous Joe Biden mushroom cloud at the presidential debate, and the press corps of this country continues to struggle with his condition becoming evident. They are also grappling with the further damage impacting their already severely impacted credibility.
What we are seeing today are examples of the press trying to justify, excuse, pass blame, and otherwise deny their culpability in protecting Biden before they could no longer do so. From Brian Stelter’s desperate excuses to journalists trying to recalibrate their past, it is clear there are significant problems.
Then we take a look at a completely irresponsible report from Newsweek, claiming swaths of independent voters have switched to Biden after the debate. (The actual number is embarrassing.) And to finish up, a deeply curious wrinkle could emerge should Joe Biden step away from the nomination; there is the possibility of the creation of a Gavin Newsom-Kamala Harris ticket.
