In this episode of "Hypocritical Democrats and the Hypocritical Stuff They Do"...
Radical left-wing (socialist) Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kamala Harris' vice presidential running mate, loves raising taxes. Most states have cut taxes at least once since 2021, with 28 states cutting individual income tax rates, 15 states cutting corporate income tax rates, and several other states cutting sales tax rates and property taxes. Yet under Walz, Minnesota has been an exception, one of the few states to raise taxes in recent years — despite posting large surpluses.
Again, suffice it to say, tax-lovin' Tim Walz has likely never seen a tax hike he didn't eagerly embrace.
However, when it comes to paying taxes, there's at least one example in Walz's past when he failed to pay a tax he owed — and it's a hilarious example at that.
Walz had his China travel company shut down by the Nebraska government in 1968 because he failed to pay a minor business operating tax, according to corporate records.
Did I mention that the tax was only $26?
Educational Travel Adventures, Inc., which Walz founded with his wife in 1995 to run group trips to China, was dissolved by Nebraska’s secretary of state for "non-payment of occupational taxes"—just $26 annually—in April 1998. The company was left defunct for years, even as Walz continued to organize group tours to China.
In 2008, after Walz was elected to Congress, he repaid 10 years of back taxes and interest, amounting to $235, to get the company reinstated, records show.
The tax slip-up is at odds with Walz's policies as governor of Minnesota, where he oversaw some of the most aggressive hikes on businesses in the country. House Republicans are investigating his former company, Educational Travel Adventures, as a potential target of Chinese government influence operations.
While Walz's failure to pay the operating tax was likely a slip-up, it's interesting that his business was dissolved over the nonpayment. One would think he would have received one of more notices from the state for failure to pay. It's also ironic that tax-crazed Walz has at least one case on his record of not practicing what he preaches — and imposes on the citizens of Minnesota.
Unsurprisingly, Walz continued to organize student exchange trips to China for four years after his company was shut down and then founded a new corporation with the same name in Minnesota in 2002. Reports indicate that he stopped leading the exchange trips one year later.

Walz’s company, Educational Travel Adventures, Inc., has also drawn the attention of House Republicans.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY), Oversight Committee Chair, announced on August 16 that he was launching an investigation into, in part, whether Walz's student exchange trips were subsidized by the Chinese government, and whether Walz himself may have been "targeted by or recruited for CCP influence operations."
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) is launching an investigation into Minnesota Governor Timothy Walz, Kamala Harris’s recently announced vice-presidential running mate, following reports detailing the Governor’s longstanding connections to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) entities and officials.
In a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray, Chairman Comer is requesting information, documents, and communications related to the CCP-connected entities and officials Governor Walz has engaged and partnered with, as well as any warnings or advice the FBI may have given to Governor Walz about U.S. political figures being targeted by or recruited for CCP influence operations.
How interesting will it be to see that investigation unfold? Then again, something tells me that Christopher Wray and the FBI will be as little help as they can to Comer and his investigation.
Meanwhile, big-government blowhard Tim Walz will continue to rail against "the rich" and large corporations ad nauseam. I don't know what it is about the guy, but I'm certain that he's not who he pretends to be.
